Awards
The winner of the best verbal presentation will be awarded a prize of € 1000,-. The second best will be awarded a prize of € 750,- for further scientific research. The best poster presentation will be awarded a prize of € 500,- and the winner of the audience prize will receive € 250,-.
This year the KNMG-Limburg will again offer an incentive award for the abstract that shows the most holistic and humanitarian approach to both the patient and healthcare. This award is called the KNMG Consolidation Prize. Also, the KNMG Limburg will offer the best authors the opportunity to publish their abstracts in their magazine.
Review of abstracts
The abstracts will be blindly and randomly distributed to the members of the Scientific Advisory Board. The abstracts will be reviewed and awarded according to the following criteria and judgement scale:
Importance of research
Originality of research
Suitability of materials, methods and statistical analysis
Usefulness of results
Comprehensibility of the abstract
Requirements for abstracts
Content requirements
Language: The abstract should be written in the English language only.
Word limit: The limit of the abstract is 2400 characters including spaces and interpunctions. Title and author are not included. Characters that are not in isonorm 8859-1 cannot be used. This means: α, β or other Greek characters need to be spelled out ("alpha" and "beta").
Style requirements
Format and point size: Arial, size 11
Page Layout Guideline for A4: (21 cm x 29,7 cm) paper size. Page Layout should be as follows: Top – 3 cm, Bottom – 3 cm, Left – 3 cm, Right – 3 cm.
Tables and figures: these can be added in addition to the abstract itself. The organisation of the MMSRC cannot guarantee that tables and figures will be placed in the book of abstracts.

Mention your co-authors
Paragraphs
Abstracts should contain the following paragraphs:
Introduction:
In this paragraph you should describe the current state of scientific progress regarding your field. It should also contain the aim of your research and why it is important.
Material & methods:
In this paragraph, the used material and methods should be described. Give a short summary of your population (humans, animals), the materials that have been used (equipment, chemicals, etc.), how you acquired your data (status, interviews, etc.) and how these have been analyzed statistically.
Results:
Next, you describe the results you have found. Make sure you do not reveil your conclusions yet. A small table or graphic is also possible; you can upload this later.
Discussion & conclusions:
In this paragraph, you present the conclusions and outcomes from the interpretation of your results. You can also describe the limitations of your study, implications for future studies in this field and the consequences for others.
Important: Received abstracts that do not meet the submission requirements as described above will not be published in the abstract book.

This year the organising committees of the Maastricht Medical Students Research Conference and the Clinical Investigators Science Symposium have bundled their strengths. With over 20 year of combined experience, this conference will be larger, more extended and better!
