The Chairman of the Day is a well-rounded speaker who ensures that the programme runs smoothly and intervenes in any disturbances. He introduces the speakers and the students, leads debates and discussions, and he is in charge of keeping track of the time.
This year's chairman of the day is Piet Leroy M.D., a Belgian Senior Staff Member and PhD student at the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at Maastricht University Medical Center. His research focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of delirium in severely ill children and procedural sedation in children.
International Federation of Medical Students Associations the Netherlands
(IFMSA-NL) is an organization for Dutch medical students, situated at each
of the eight medical faculties.
Their mission is to offer future physicians a comprehensive introduction to
global health issues. Through their programming and opportunities, they
develop culturally sensitive students of medicine, intent on influencing
the trans-national inequalities that shape the health of our planet.
Besides being the Dutch member organization of the worldwide federation called IFMSA, IFMSA-NL also part of the European Medical Students Association-network (EMSA).

The Leiden International Medical Student Conference (LIMSC) is organised
biennially by the Leiden Medical Students’ Association in cooperation with
the Leiden University Medical Center. Students from all over the world will
convene for this three-day conference in Leiden, The Netherlands. Selected
students will have the opportunity to present their research in oral or poster
sessions. The research projects presented will include a wide variety of (bio)-
medical topics, ranging from internal medicine and public health to molecular
cell biology and ethics. The sessions will be interspersed with guest lectures
by prominent international researchers, challenging workshops, a range of
social events and a Career and Internship Fair.
Participation in LIMSC, either as a presenting or as a visiting participant, is a unique opportunity to become familiar with medical research and, just as importantly, to create an international professional and social network for your future career.
